The Dota Summit is back for its 11th incarnation and this time, the stakes are even higher. The summit has been designated a minor event within Valve’s Dota Pro Circuit meaning that the winner of this tournament will qualify for the first major of the 2019/20 season and the all-important DPC points are up for grabs.
What is The Summit 11?
The Summit is the first event of the 2019/20 DPC season and will set the teams that are likely to do well apart from the pack after all the roster shuffles. Some high profile teams are missing from the attendee's list such as Evil Geniuses, Team Secret and OG, but this will give way to some teams who don’t regularly get the opportunity to attend such prestigious events.

Dota Summit 2019: Who are the favourites?
Virtus Pro announced that they have had to pull out of attending The Dota Summit 11 due to Visa and scheduling conflicts and will be replaced by team jfshfh178
Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) are no strangers to the Dota minors, having taken part in three of the five minors in the previous season and winning two of them. But the Ninjas are back with a new-look lineup. The roster sees the legendary TI winning captain ‘PPD’ reunited with former Evil Geniuses offlaner ‘Universe’ along with fellow American carry ‘Gunnar’. NiP’s recent performance at Dreamleague was a positive start to the lineup's journey, taking third behind a dominant new-look Alliance.
Geek Fam are another strong contender to take home the trophy at The Summit 11, with the recent transfers from TNC Predator ‘Raven’ and ‘Kuku’, and former Fnatic coach ‘Dubu’. During their qualifiers, they only dropped one map, demonstrating their progression from a disappointing MDL Chengdu qualifiers.
Dota Summit 2019: Teams to watch
The Summit 2019 is a tournament that any team can truly win with all the teams being so even.
Invictus Gaming (IG) is still chasing the glory days of TI2, but they have been slowly rebuilding their current lineup over the last year. IG got through arguably the strongest qualifier beating the likes of Newbee, RNG and CDEC. They will be looking to start off their DPC campaign with a top finish at The Summit 11 to bag their first points of the season.
The self-named Quincy Crew is the remnants of ex-forward gaming members that competed at TI9 under the Newbee organisation. The lineup built around the formidable mid Quin ‘CCnC’ Callahan sees ‘SVG’ returns from retirement with ‘Yawar’ and ‘MSS’ also returning. The team got with former EG superstar ‘SumaiL’ on their roster who has since departed, being replaced by the relatively untested ‘SabeRLight’
